A free outdoor festival in Ruddington
Rush4Health celebrates all things to do with health and well-being and will take place on Sunday 8 July at Rushcliffe Country Park in Ruddington. It is jointly promoted by Rushcliffe Borough Council and Principia Rushcliffe CCG.
We're working together to back the Government's nationwide Change4Life campaign which encourages people to 'eat well, move more and live longer'. Through Rush4Health we aim to help people make a kick start to health changes - whether you wanted advice about healthy eating, getting fit or stopping smoking. Experts will be on hand to give support and advice, plus there are many fun, free and educational exhibitions from local businesses, clubs and community groups. To celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Games we'll be offering lots of free sports and physical activities to try including cricket, rugby, hockey, korfball and kite flying.
Rush4Health will be open from 12pm - 5pm. Visitor parking can be found on the Field of Hope which is located off Asher Lane in Ruddington village. Parking will cost £2 per car. Please see location signs on the day if you are unfamiliar with the location. We ask all visitors to Rush4Health to avoid parking on nearby streets where possbile as this causes distruption for local residents.
Rush4Health is a free community health festival which takes place annually at Rushcliffe Country Park, a 82 hectare parkland just outside of Ruddington, Nottingham.
The event initiated in 2009 by a partnership between Principia Partners in Health and Rushcliffe Borough Council with the aim of providing a platform on which to engage with the local community on health issues and support engagement with positive learning activities. The event mimics the style and content of a typical summer community fair, and, includes special exhibitions and activities aimed to encourage awareness of local health priorities such as stop smoking, sun safety, alcohol misuse and obesity. In addition the event aims to encourage an improved understanding of NHS services, delivery and structure. Change4Life is a National Campaign devised by the Department of Health and as such was chosen as the core theme of the festival. The Chagne4life logo is becoming a recognisable theme, therefore the three exhibition zones at the event were designed to reflect the campaign’s key messages of Eat Well, Move More and Live Longer
Both organisations contributed 50% of project costs, with Rushcliffe Borough Council acting as project managers, under the direction of a joint management group.
In total there were 4000 attendees at Rush4Health 2011, the largest attendance since the event began, with evidence from visitor date captured during the day indicating high engagement with Rushcliffe residents. 12 external organisations supported the event with exhibition stalls or activities, representing a cross section of the community such as walks groups, care support groups, sports clubs and charities.
