Community Physiotherapy is available for Principia Rushcliffe patients with musculo-skeletal dysfunction including back, neck, shoulder and peripheral joint dysfunction and soft tissue injuries.
In the first instance you will need to see your GP who will be able to assess your presenting condition and advise you on self management which may also include lifestyle advice, for example keeping active. Many conditions resolve with pain management and lifestyle advice. If six weeks after your initial presentation there hasn’t been a natural resolution of the problem your GP will refer you to a Community Physiotherapist. The purpose of this is to provide you with specific advice to your condition. You will be given a list of Physiotherapist and you will be able to choose where to go based on information such as clinic locations and session times.
If you are referred to the service you can expect to receive:
• 1 session of assessment, diagnosis. You will receive advice and guidance on self management and where appropriate an exercise prescription
• 1 follow-up session (if required) to aid compliance to the advice and guidance and exercise prescription. The physiotherapists can give treatments at these sessions if clinically appropriate.
You will not be eligible to access the service if you are:
This service is not suitable for all patients who may need to be seen by other clinicians or specialists. It will for your GP to assess a range of factors with you in determining what is best for you so you may not be offered this service at all.
